ECHO Development

For 2007, and 2008 there will be at least two operational releases of ECHO: Version 9.0 and Version 10.0. The planning behind the release is outlined in the ECHO Development Process with a focus on five main categories of functionality:

  • New features, especially Web services
  • Software implementation of outstanding ECHO data model requirements, based on the ECHO data model review held in 2002
  • Features and system modifications to support operations needs and streamline the operations function
  • Refactoring selected components of the ECHO system to improve performance and maintainability
  • Bug fixes, prioritized by criticality

Version 9.0 High Level Schedule

  • Development complete: July 9, 2004
  • External test and debug completed: mid September 2004
  • End-to-end testing (with DAACs) completed: late September 2004
  • Deploy to operations completed: early March 2007

  • Internal and External testing completed: Winter 2008
  • Performance testing completed: Winter 2008
