Data Partners provide the ECHO community with metadata representing their Earth Science data holdings. Client applications have access to data holdings via order distribution or online access.
Data Partners retain complete control over what metadata is represented in ECHO including inserting new metadata, modifying existing metadata and removing old metadata.
- If there is no granule metadata for a provider, Bulk URL inserts
or deletes received for that provider will not be processed, this is to
prevent unneccessary errors.
- If there is collection metadata for a provider, this
metadata will be ingested manually before any other metadata for that provider.
There are manual edits and database settings needed before ingest
of other metadata can proceed.
- If a large number of granules (greater than 250,000) are
detected for a provider, ingest must be manually managed to
prevent one data provider from using an excessive amount of
the processing pipeline (continuously)
- Processing of historical metadata will not be automatic. This
will need to be manually managed to allow all providers the
use of the ingest pipeline.
- New provider metadata will not be ingested automatically
until all metadata and ingest issues have been resolved such
that ingest can proceed to completion on a regular basis.
- Any ingest halts for a provider will result in automatic
ingest being turned off for that provider until the issue
causing the failure is determined and resolved.
